Eurovision Song Contest 2012



The Eurovision Song Contest 2012 will be the 57th annual Eurovision Song Contest. It will be held in Baku, Azerbaijan, following Azerbaijan's win in the 2011 Contest with Eldar & Nigar's song "Running Scared". The preliminary dates set for the two semi-finals are 22 May and 24 May 2012, with the final planned for the evening of 26 May 2012, in Azerbaijan.

On 16 May 2011, it was announced that a special concert complex with 20,000 seats for Eurovision 2012 is to be built near National Flag Square in Baku. However, on 19 May 2011, organizers announced that they may use the Tofiq Bahramov Stadium which contains 37,000 seats, or the Heydar Aliyev Sports and Exhibition Complex.  The Azerbaijani government is currently looking for a company to build a concert complex which can accommodate between 15,000 and 25,000 attendees and can be completed within eight months.

>>Role of the national host broadcaster
The İctimai Television which is the European Broadcasting Union member to broadcast the Eurovision Song Contest in Azerbaijan is one of country's public-service broadcasters. Furthermore, Deputy Minister of Communication and
Information Technology of Azerbaijan, Iltimas Mammadov, stated that telecom networks are ready to host this event.
