Ivi Adamou will represent Cyprus in  Eurovision Song Contest 2012!

After initial rumours of her participation in the Greek National Final of 2011, rumours heated up once again in June 2011 that Ivi Adamou is now ready and willing to enter Eurovision on behalf of Cyprus. These rumours are expected to be confirmed by Cypriot broadcaster, the CyBC, tomorrow on August 5th, making Ivi the first artist announcement for the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest.
After her participation in the second series of the Greek X Factor, where she finished in sixth place, Sony Music Greece swiftly signed the young Cypriot star after an impressive stint on the popular program. During her participation on the show, Ivi was mentored by Giorgos Theofanous who has composed three entries for Cyprus back in 1992, 1994 (both for ex-wife Evridiki) plus in 2002 for Cypriot boy band ONE. Additionally Theofanous conducted the orchestra for the 1993 and 1995 Cypriot entries.
After completing her studies in 2011, the Cypriot born singer reportedly entered talks with Cypriot broadcaster, the CyBC, and reached an agreement sometime in June 2011. Therefore, it is expected Ivi will become the 30th representative for Cyprus and represent the small Island nation at the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest.

Additionally, it has been reported to ESCDaily.com that there will be a January 1st National Final with a total of 3-5 songs presented by Ivi. The winning song of course will go on to represent Cyprus in Baku next May. We have also been informed only CyBC invited composers may take part in the song submission process. However, this is currently unconfirmed by the CyBC.
